The Tick Season 2 - Lobstercules Fight.

My chief contribution to this series of shots was the floor destruction fx as Lobstercules slams Tick around the environment. FX were created in 3dsMax, using Thinking Particles for the destruction. One main simulation was used across multiple shots, with the Tick breaking the floor three times. In conjunction with the fx, I had to rebuild the set floor texture to ensure that my broken concrete matched the floor used on set. Fine amounts of debris were added as a secondary result of the main breakage, and the subtle dust (smoke) was added by my CG supervisor on the project. I was also responsible for lighting these shots, and managing the scene setup as a whole (reintegrating the caches as animation iterated over time) and bringing the shots to final render. Finals were lit and rendered with Vray.

The Tick Season 1 - Bus

My responsibility on these shots were all of the modeling, texturing, and lighting as well as scene assembly and rendering. While our bus model came from our LA office’s work on the shots leading up to this, the NY office at FuseFX was responsible for recreating the bridge as well as the effects for the crash. I fully re-created the bridge overpass by retopoing photogrammetry scans made on set. This ensured the accuracy of the 3d model, as well as informed the recreation of set-accurate textures. The aside from the broken rail, broken bricks and concrete, and misplaced blocks, the whole bridge as seen from looking up at the bus from these shots are entirely 3d, as well as the concrete sidewalk topside.
